An unbelievable year on both coasts! Countless new plaques earned, breakthrough engineers, and amazing creative output!

Blue Studios now has several consecutive years of number 1 albums come out of the studio. This year it was Summer Walker “Still Over It” who took over the top spot with a huge first week debut. Summer recorded a few songs on her album at Blue South including the first single Ex for a Reason, Unloyal ft Ari Lennox (Ari Lennox recorded at Blue West), and Session 33 in studio B Atlanta.

In 2020, it’s Juice Wrld’s ‘Legends Never Die’ that has since sold several million copies and was one of the highest selling albums of 2020 as well as Uzi Vert’s ‘Lil Uzi Vert vs the World’ - both debuted at number 1 with recordings from Blue West.

And now mastering too! During the 2020 lockdown pandemic, we shifted gears a bit at Blue West and began studying the art of mastering more and more. This year we are so happy to have mastered several albums including many of the artists listed above. You can follow our mastering catalog on our website.

At Blue West we’ve had a bit of a rough year in the parking department due to construction happening next door on a new hotel. We’ve decided to now provide artists doing an 8hr session or more in the evenings two paid for spots in the parking lot across the street on Wilcox. We hope this will make life easier for you all moving forward and help mitigate parking complications.

Gear wise, we should have another Sony C800g in house at some point in 2022. This mic has been extremely backordered but we have a client that purchased and will keep it in house for rent at the studio. At west we’ve also had a huge year expanding our mastering rig. We now have an incredible mastering rig featuring matching pultecs, maselec consoles and eqs, and unbelievable ADC and DACs.

In Atlanta, we are having parts of the studio space repainted and fabric redone in our vocal booth in the A room. We are also hoping to renovate bathrooms very soon as well. Our Atlanta studio has evolved into more and more of a luxury feeling space in the city. We are dedicated to matching that with the highest level of service and hospitality and a wide array of production and creative tools.

This year, we’ve been pushing ahead with goals to expand into a new location. We fell in and out of a few deals and are bouncing back strong by continuing to actively look for that third special place. With the world getting smaller, we love the experience of working with the same artists in different cities. In fact, a majority of the artists listed above have worked at both studios with us on both sides of the country. This was always our dream from the beginning and we hope to keep expanding upon it!

When we first made the move to start our LA location, we were taking scouting trips to both Miami and Los Angeles, and although we decided on LA at the time, we’ve never been able to get Miami out of our systems. We hope to expand on all fronts in the coming years and see a Blue Tropics Miami develop as well. Our whole team is inspired by the cities we are in, the natural and geographical surroundings and energy of the cities.. Every city has its own vibe, its own sound and style, and a unique identity that inspires one to create in different ways. When we expand this curiosity is what drives us to push forward.
